Organic Cashmere
This luxury material comes from the downy undercoat of cashmere goats. These ultra-fine hairs have incredible insulating properties, which allow for exceptional temperature regulation. This keeps the goats warm in the winter, but also cools them down in the summer. While cashmere has grown in popularity, it is a rare material that is only combed and gathered from the goats once a year. The organic virgin cashmere we source for the Birch Luxe Natural Mattress is exceptional, as it is certified at the highest order by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and comes from herded free range goats.
Organic Cotton
The beautiful matelassé weave on the Birch Luxe Natural Mattress quilted cover is made from organic cotton. We chose cotton because it is a highly breathable, soft, yet durable fiber. Birch only uses organic GOTS Certified cotton both in our Mattresses and across our entire suite of products to guarantee their organic status and the socially responsible manufacturing of the textiles in them. Additionally, we partner with Fair Trade factories to ensure equitable trade models and practices across our cotton supply chain.
Natural Latex
We use 100% natural latex made from sap sustainably tapped from the tropical rubber tree Hevea Brasiliensis. We source the rubber exclusively from closely monitored plantations and the resulting latex foam is produced in the US. The latex foam in all Birch Mattresses is both GREENGUARD Gold and eco-INSTITUT certified to ensure high quality and safety standards. Additionally, the forests and plantations we source our latex from are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and Rainforest Alliance.

This store is run by a young husband and wife with a 3 1/2 yr old kid who plays quietly behind the counter. When I entered, they greeted me but didn’t bum-rush me, which would have been annoying. Once I approached them, they were helpful, knowledgeable, and was able to get me exactly what I wanted and then through in a small discount.
Just got our bed from Vermont Mattress Depot yesterday. I had the mattress delivered the very next day! They were courteous from beginning to end. The delivery guys were super friendly and careful. We have a tiny upstairs apartment and they were able to navigate our narrow hallways with ease! Speaking from experience, in all my 36 revolutions around the earth, this has been by far the best night sleep.
